The University Rehab is affiliated and located at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.  Many of it's faculty are our orthopaedic faculty and work closely with all departments located at the medical center to take care of the entire patient and their many needs.

University Rehabilitation Center (URC) opened the doors to its first patient on June 26, 2002.  University Rehabilitation Center is an acute, inpatient adult rehabilitation unit that focuses on the interdisciplinary care of patients who need rehabilitation from strokes, amputations, major multiple traumas, spinal cord injuries , minor brain injuries, arthritis, neurological disorders and other medical conditions that require rehabilitation. The mission of the unit is to promote functional restoration of both physical and psychological being and to achieve the highest level of functional improvement within the constraints of resources available to the patient. University Rehabilitation Center cares for patients age 18 and older who have the ability to tolerate a comprehensive rehabilitation program.  The unit is open 24 hours a day, seven days per week. 

We are located on the Medical Center campus in Jackson.

Mission : The mission of the Rehabilitation Unit of the hospital is to promote functional restoration of both physical and psychological being and to achieve the highest level of functional improvement within the constraints of resources available to the patient. The unit staff will act as a role model to affect attitude and work ethic and to do so in a creative environment that promotes advancement for the patient, the staff, and the hospital.

CARF ACCREDITATION

University Rehabilitation Center is pleased to announce that it has been awarded a Three-Year Accreditation for its inpatient rehabilitation program from the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF).

 

This accreditation is awarded to organizations that show substantial fulfillment to the standards established by CARF.  An organization receiving a Three-Year Accreditation outcome has put itself through a rigorous peer review process and has demonstrated to a team of surveyors during an on-site visit that its program and services are measurable, accountable, and of the highest quality.

 

CARF is an independent, not-for-profit accrediting body whose mission is to promote the quality, value, and optimal outcomes of services through a consultative accreditation process that centers on enhancing the lives of the persons served.  Since 1966, CARF has established consumer-focused standards to help organizations measure and improve the quality of their programs and services.
