Dr.
Ronald J. Kendig was a long time faculty member in our department.
Since joining the UMC family in 1984, Dr. Kendig was an
invaluable asset to the numerous residents whose careers he has
helped to shape. He also impacted the lives of the thousands of
Mississippi children whom he treated throughout the years. Those
of you who have had the opportunity to work with, be treated by,
or just be friends with Dr. Kendig over the last 20 years know
how much his presence both professionally and personally is sorely
missed.
The
department wanted to remember Dr. Kendig in a special way.
Dr. William McCraney,
former orthopedic resident, and his
wife Kathryn came to us with the idea of honoring Dr. Kendig with
a memorial that will benefit the children of Mississippi . We have
met with the Junior League of Jackson, who is in the planning stages
for the museum's separate areas. The Junior League is very excited
about the concept of an interactive exhibit with an orthopedic focus.
The design firm that has been selected for all exhibits at the museum,
is currently working with us to develop an area that will certainly
pay tribut to Dr. Kendig. Details will be made public both
on this website and with donors - when finalized.
We
are offering you the many ways in which you can participate in
this endeavor, if you so choose. These contributions would be
tax deductible and would be used solely to fund this undertaking.
We realize this is a large undertaking but one we feel will truly
honor his memory in a way that will continue to touch the lives
of the Mississippi's children for years to come. If you have any
questions, please do not hesitate to contact one of us or Susan
Alexander at 601 984 5153. More information about the project
in general can be found at the Junior League of Jackson's museum
